Formerly a 17th century Coaching House, this freehouse is a well-known South Devon landmark situated conveniently
close to the A38, A303 and the M5 Motorway.
The Old Coaching House Inn has an Historic past. The Interior features many paintings, relics and objects of interest.
During the long history of this Inn, English and foreign Royalty have rested within its walls. To name but a few, The Duke
of Clarence, (later to become King William IV) accompanied by his Duchess, Queen Adelaide and Queen Adelaides Mother, the
Princess Saxe-Meiningem. The Princess Royal of France, the Duchess of Angouleme resided here sometime after the execution
of her Parents Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Some yars later, two of the brothers of Napoleon Bonaparte lodged here. William
Prince of Orange also spent a night here.
The Old Coaching House has been extensively re-furbished with the object of fulfilling it original purpose, to offer
the traveller comfortable accommodation, good food and refreshments and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Unlike guests of yesteryear, today’s visitors are able to enjoy full en-suite facilities in all bedrooms, together
with color television and tea and coffee making facilities.
Our Restaurant offers a wide menu with an extensive specials board and wine list.
The lounge bar is situated in the oldest part of the building and whilst having the old-world charm you would expect,
it remain very comfortable and inviting with traditional furniture and log burning fires.
Chudleigh and the surrounding area offers interests to suit all tastes, including fishing, golf, walking and bird watching.

Situated in the heart of the Devonshire Countryside, this area offers many different terrain; from the rugged landscape
of the Dartmoor National Park, situated just 10 minutes from Chudleigh, the majextic Haldon forest bordering the town, to
the picturesque coastal paths of Torbay, Teignmouth and the South Hams. All are situated within 10-30 minutes drive from The
Old Coaching House.

are many excellent bird watching facilities just 2 miles from The Old Coaching House inn, suitable for the keen amateur or
the ardent twitcher.
The
Bullers Hill Raptor Centre is renowned for its many rare breeds of birds of prey and is a nesting site for Honey Buzzards.
Other
popular places of interest for the birdwatcher in this area are Slapton Ley, the river Exe Estuary and the mouth of the river
Teign.
Chudleigh
Knighton Heath, within 5 minutes of Chudleigh, is famous for its Nightingales, whose song can be heard clearly on a warm summer
evening.

House, there are 5 courses to suit every need. fFrom the local Teign Valley course, the near championship course at the Manor
House, Mortenhampstead, the Parkland course at Stover Park, a challenging pay & play at Dainton Park to the teasing 9
holes at Hele Park. These all provide services which will meet every golfers needs.
FISHING
This part of Devon can provide fishing of every type. Inland reservoir fishing is available at Fernworthy, lake fishing
for trout at the local Watercress Farm. The rivers Teign and Dart are famous for Salmon and Sea Trout and of course our proximity
to the coast makes sea fishing a possible everyday pastime.

beautiful sandy beaches of Teignmouth and Dawlish, the historical Cities of Exeter and Plymouth, the Moorland splendour of
Widdecombe and the night life of the English Riviera at Torbay. All these are easily accessible from The Old Coaching House.
